Mason Greeley- Leadership Director and 7th Grade homeroom

Hi there, I am Mr. Greeley.  My wife and family live in the country outside of Orland.  We have two sons who are in middle school, they are kept busy with our two dogs, 2 cats, 38 chickens, and 150,000 honey bees (three hives). I have visited 24 countries around the world as a casual traveler, our family hikes, camps, and backpacks whenever we get a chance.  Northern California is amazing and offers much to explore, it is exciting to teach at LAVA and to have the opportunity to do that exploration with our students.

Dicha Perez - Field Trip Coordinator and Science Teacher

Hi, I’m Dicha Perez, LAVA’s Science Teacher and Lassen National Park Liaison. I feel lucky to be the science teacher at LAVA because it allows me to bring my passion for the national world into the classroom. I believe in and giving my students opportunities to see themselves as scientists through hands-on learning and experimentation.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Natural Science from Chico State, and I have additional Masters coursework in Science Education from East Carolina University. When I’m not teaching I enjoy furthering my education so that I can find new and exciting ways to make my classroom engaging and challenging for LAVA students.
I live in Chico with my family where I can usually be found cheering from a football sideline, rugby pitch, or basketball bleacher. Over summers my family and I enjoy traveling, camping and attending live music shows.

Keith Skelton - Atheletic Director and 8th Grade homeroom

Hi there, my name is Keith Skelton and I teach English here at LAVA Charter School.  Additionally, I am the school’s yearbook advisor and teach 8th grade history.  I have really enjoyed my time here at LAVA; I have worked with so many wonderful students in the classroom as well as coaching.

I grew up in Tehama County, attending Gerber Elementary and Red Bluff High School.  I attended Chico State to earn my bachelor’s degree in History and earned my teaching credential through Simpson University.

Sports have always been a passion of mine.  I started young playing little league and soccer.  I played basketball through middle school and was on the RBHS Soccer Team in high school and loved the experience.  Coaching for me began over a decade ago, when my oldest began playing soccer.  I truly love working with youth sports and have coached our soccer, basketball, and softball teams at LAVA and look forward to continuing to do so.

I have been married for over 20 years to my wife Marcie and we have three children.  They keep us busy with their sports teams as well as raising and showing livestock in 4-H and FFA.  I am also a volunteer 4-H leader and have served as the 4-H Camp Director for 6 years.  When I get the chance, I love reading and watching movies.

I look forward to having you in my class and on a sports team!

Hey there! My name is Mrs. Stephens. I currently live in Red Bluff with my husband, our dog, cat, 3 turtles, and 8 chickens. I am a frequent Disneyland visitor, and love all things llamas. My husband and I enjoy camping, kayaking, and fishing. We take frequent trips to the coast for crabbing or just enjoying the fog. We also play music and have a little garage band (he plays the guitar and I sing). I have been at LAVA since 2020, and have been at home ever since. LAVA is such a special place for learning. With its connection to Lassen National Park, it truly makes for an exciting outdoors experience for both staff and students. I look forward to all my teaching years to come at LAVA, and I hope to see your face soon too!
